[ no one actually told him to do it, it just became easier over time. he learned on his own that his comfort could be a casualty of war, because it was better than the idea of losing. of having everything he'd done go to waste. he's been fighting so long that comfort just seems like a luxury. ]

[ truth be told, he's still feeling whatever sedative they gave him before they dumped him, but cassian has been pushing through it. he pushed through a broken back, he is doing his damnedest to push through drugs!! ten minutes walking, he can do it!! ]
