[Alec might not have full-blown apocalypse experience but he definitely has the aftermath and the fallout taken care of as far as experiences go. The total chaos that ensues and the desperation, that's nothing new to him either. He's been stuck at the safehouse longer than he's ever been comfortable with. Short of staying with Max he always kept moving and so nesting and settling in still isn't a priority for him here.
