I'm glad you had someone like me. Though I have to admit—I haven't always been the best with Madi. I didn't exactly plan on ... her, you know? Then again, who ever plans on that? [It was easier when it was just her and Madi. Telling her stories. Outlining the heroics of Bellamy, Octavia, Murphy, Raven, and the rest. She knew how to teach lessons through that. It was a way of celebrating who came before, and so Madi could learn.

But it was hard, too, when their isolation became less of that. When all her lessons came to bite her because she had taught Madi to do good and be a hero, and then Madi took the Flame.

Because after all that? Of course she did.]
