[Quentin can see that it's having an effect on him, what he's saying. It comes from experience, he knows that. The weight on her shoulders comes from someone with experience with loss, but this is a very particular type of grief. He's a widower. He wouldn't say he was ever over Ari. Raising Teddy meant he thought of her constantly, of the aspects in their son that reminded him of her, of what she would think of who he became.

He sees that grief in her now, a cut deep in the heart. Quentin turns his head to look at her, wondering if he should let it ride, since she is speaking from a place of pain. But they both are, truly. If he's learned anything from his experience with Clarke so far, it's that they both crave an equal give and take from the people around them.]
