I don't know how it could be, honestly. If it was anyone but Fenris I'd think they were joking with me. [Fenris doesn't joke. He is very blunt.] They've tried to explain this concept. I'm going to need a drink to explain what I've understood of it, hold on.

[And by need a drink, she means that she literally has to down a cup of ale before talking. Hawke's fairly good at reacting to madness, being a creator of it herself, but she's out of her depth for certain. She chugs it down easily and by the time it's done, she has put the words together in her head.]

Apparently there are multiple, or infinite, versions of each world. So there's one when I'm a male mage, and one when I'm the gloriously perfect creature I am now. [Hawke's vanity is one hundred percent self-mocking, but it's not always obvious.] And probably one where you're a man, or I'm a Qunari, and any variety of options that seem impossible to us but are real.

[Hawke brushes the back of her hand across her mouth to take some of the beer moisture away, shrugging.]

So, for instance. [She says this one carefully.] I might be dead in one timeline and alive in another.
