The only thing that might help is the bad haircut (bad as in Keith is putting no effort into shaping it while it grows back in) that's clearly a remnant of where his hair was a month ago.

The first group of us was different. I don't know that we weren't meant to be dropped off, exactly like this. But we weren't. There was an accident. A lot of people died. Everyone who was watching us, everyone who came to get us, and a few of our own. [Direct, to the point, but explained at length. He sounds regretful when he gets to the part about the deaths, but it's not so blatant that he can't conceal it.]
Everyone after that has been like this. Dropped off somewhere. And then we go to find you.
