( the stitches are serviceable, an' even neatly done for a layman, but gene's sewn up more folk than he can count an' several thousand animals besides at this point. dental floss can handle plenty of tension, so the stitches could've been another eighth of an inch apart an' it'd mean fewer marks in the skin that the body needs to work to heal up after the fact. )

Did he disinfect it before he stitched it up?
