[ Wash doesn't pull away at the first memory, just sort of staying for the ride because anything that Maine might be thinking of right now, whether he means to share it or not, is going to be important. It's rough, though, and bring up more questions than it answers. He already knows that the other Wash was cruel in some way, and knows that he's capable of it too, but the circumstances of the encounter are beyond him right now. A broken piece of armor? Did Maine host Alpha...?

Before he can think on it further, the scene shifts, to something much lighter but a little suggestive, that has Wash wondering... then yup. It flows into a different scene that confirms his thoughts. Maine and the other Wash seem very familiar with each other in this way, despite his earlier anger. Maybe they're out of order? It seems incredibly complicated.

Then it's over, and they're just standing there touching, Wash trying to ride out Maine's dread. He would have gotten a flood of horror, confusion, realization, and now more that he realizes he's gripping Maine's arm.

He looks up at his friend even more curiously, uncertain how much Maine meant to show him. The words don't come at first, and he tries to send reassurance while he puts them together. ]

It's okay. I think I get it now.
