Quentin may be a lot of things right then, but he was exuding determination and certainty so he doesn't mind sharing it with Eliot. The kiss helps ground him too, remember that he is about to have to live in the moment and not think twenty steps ahead. There's no way they're going to get through this if Quentin's thinking about what's already going on at Red Wings or how everyone is. He has to be present.
"I'm pretty sure whatever's down there is fucking up things plenty." Quentin puts his relic into his pocket, the only thing that goes absolutely everywhere with him in this city, and glances out the window again. "I know like three different routes there. Let's hope one of them works." He's not sure the straight forward one is going to be smart.
As soon as they go outside, they can get a better look at the disaster outside. The building itself seems secure but the streets are madness. Quentin immediately grabs Eliot and tugs him down, moving them over to the wall. Bat creatures with no faces swoop by, drawn to loud noises down the road. There's quaking earth under their feet like there's something living under there, but it goes away. Right in front of them, a giant boar goes charging through debris, its thick hide covered in porcupine quills, and an alarm goes off.
"Oh my god I feel like we're in Lord of the Rings right now."
