A place that was growing, "on Earth", makes it sound as though she's from something along the lines of apocalyptic. Still, Clarke remains a bit sparse on the details, nimbly skirting around giving up information on the state of her place of origin by using this place as an approximation.

Nate isn't certain whether that's a purposeful detour or she just talks roundabout by nature. Clarke might just be really good at saying things without actually saying things.
