[ She knows what he's trying to say, can see the logic of it. For some people - most, perhaps - maybe it doesn't make much of a practical difference what happens to them in their last hours before the Quarry. Before, for the overwhelming majority, their death.

But she doesn't agree with him. Can't agree that it doesn't matter.

She can, at least, appreciate the way he faces both her and this conversation head-on. So she does her best to listen, to understand where he's coming from even if it's deeply upsetting, hearing him talk this way. ]


And what if he might have won? The man you injured. He has a disadvantage now.

[ Even more of a certain death sentence than he would have had going in without a limp, maybe a concussion, maybe worse. ]

He will not get a fair chance.
