He'd heard about this, but hadn't had the chance to encounter it firsthand; now he is and subduing Lance became that much greater a priority.
He makes sure to move away from the chair's arc but also stays a little back to regroup, eyes shifting to Garak for a second before back to Lance, waiting to reassess, see if he's going to do that again. ]
