I avoided my parents house for years. Came back, found a goddamn infant sitting in a storage tub screaming so hard her little voice was getting scratchy. My mother was passed out on the couch, high as shit. I know they managed not to off me 'cause back when I was that small, shit wasn't as bad. But at the point she was at? There was no fucking way Rii was going to live to get old enough to take care of herself under that roof--or under my own. So I made some adjustments.
