[Akechi considers utilizing Lance's identity here. It's only a brief consideration. He would ask if the agents knew of him from their other lives, and if they wished to thank him for his service in the Quarry. Or if they thought less of him. All to get a read on them. But that's far too obvious, and it might damage his shaky working relationship with Lance. As much as Akechi finds him to be too cautious in all the wrong ways, he doesn't want to end any potential future alliance.

This one, at the moment, was only briefly considered, after all. And they're working in tandem. He does enjoy Lance's smile. Ah, nice to see a bit of that in play. Idly, he wonders how much of Lance is lost via textual translation. How much is limited by a lack of body language?]

Just as well. It would be difficult to explain that to Delafield-Chapin. [Why these agents can't be close. Why they need to call the NAPD. Why they're causing problems.

The reality is that Delafield-Chapin probably didn't need much of a reason to fire Akechi. As sharp as his input can be, he's a pain in the ass. Good at politics, but terrible at diplomacy (at least these days, when he's fully himself). Not that he's going to advertise that.

He turns to Lance, expression brightening. It likely looks like a different person for a moment. In that instant, Lance can see the Akechi he was before he dropped his mask.]

There's a lot to do inside! So, shall we? I wouldn't want to miss out. Besides, it's so hot here. [At those last words, his smile slips, almost like he's feigning the role of a whiny teenager.]
