one night of magic rush
WHO: Cain, Prompto, Hideki Maeda, and you!
WHERE: The popular Asylum club.
WHEN: Night of October 26.
WHAT: Cain and Prompto's joint birthdays!
NOTES OR WARNINGS: Beyond drinking/smoking, general wild party behavior, and fake friendship, there shouldn't be much. Will update as needed.
[Set deep in the downtown of New Amsterdam's entertainment district is Asylum, arguably the most popular club in the city. The exterior is cool steel beams and tasteful futuristic architecture with a long line down the corridor, suited bouncers posed at the entrance all armed with a virtual guest list. Its interior is fashioned with bright, colorful lighting dynamic to the music of the infamous DJ Semicolon, high ceilings and acoustic sounds to lend that feeling of a constant full-body hum. Any partygoers on the guest list for this event will be funneled toward the VIP section. They will have received an invitation a few days prior via their Cooltalk profiles. Jason is specifically blacklisted, sorry buddy.
DANCE YOUR HEART OUT. Nearly impossible to book without deep pockets or wide-reaching connections, Semicolon is at the top of their game mixing popular contemporary hits with Whitney Houston's classics. From song to song, Semicolon provides a unique and talented contrast of the slow to the energetic, so no matter your dancing style, you'll find something to move you on the dance floor.
DROWN YOUR... LIVER. Courtesy of the party's host, Hideki Maeda, the VIP section's private bar will provide an ever-flowing river of your favorite expensive high-proof alcohol. Pick your poison.
CHILL OUT. Tired on your feet from too much dancing, or just need a break from the packed atmosphere? There are plenty of comfortable areas where you can relax and take it easy until you're ready to get back out there. The lights around this area cycle through different colors in reflection of Semicolon's performance set, so a slower song might lend toward romantic shades of red while a faster-paced song is brighter blue.
SMOKE, EAT & MINGLE. Asylum will be serving real, fresh meat at this party, so enjoy that luxury while it lasts. There is also an outdoor area with a beautiful view over the city itself if you want to take your vape pen out there for a smoke, just get some air, or see who's around for a chat.]

a table of ice and fire/game of waffles
the waffles are for everyone, but especially prompto!!...and sansa.]

Her hair has also blessedly been tamed by Prompto, despite its short length. It hadn't taken overly long for Daenerys to seek the quiet of the table -- for as much as she was the people's queen, it was easy to be overwhelmed with such...familiarity. Also the music.
But Prompto had been kind, and she is not about to forsake the nameday of one of her new acquaintances on the basis of discomfort. Instead, she's sitting at the table attempting to fiddle with a ring that is no longer on her finger (and had not been since she was dumped out of that vehicle) and eyeballing the box of waffles.
In her other hand is a mostly untouched glass of spiced wine.]
Quite the feast you've prepared, my lord.
no subject
Would you believe that this is nothing, next to what our hosts provided?
[he slides into a chair next to her, a pint of dark ale in hand.]
The meat here is rarer than gold, and I've seen platters of it going around.
[it's hard to get excited about mystery meat after years of salt beef and mutton stew, but the charcuterie and the garlic meat rolls are nice.]
Truth be told I'm gladder of the cheese.
[the smoky flavor of bacon and sausage are easy enough to imitate, and he's always preferred breakfast meats over any other kind. cheese, though...]
Should I fetch you a plate, your grace? There's fruit...
[strange that the fruit here is more plentiful than the meat or cheese. to his mind, fresh fruit is still a bigger luxury. though he's beginning to see the value in the cheese...]
no subject
[That's amusing on its own, though perhaps not entirely surprising. From what she knew of hard travel, cheese kept better. And, truth be told, she'd spent several weeks eating nothing but horse jerky before. There was also that time she ate raw heart...so she's learned not to be picky.
Practically on cue, she watches another plate of meat come out and swirls the wine in her glass with a thoughtful smile. Kind that he would offer -- but knowing of its rarity, a piece of her feels better allowing it to go to others.]
Awful kind of them. [She turns back to smile at him more directly when he makes his offer.] And you. I should be most appreciative if you would.
[She wasn't overly hungry, but better to accept the offer and have it than to have to go get it later. Maybe she could eat it with these waffles.]

The cheese, or the fruit?
[or both, probably. maybe some nuts...he hasn't seen any almonds here, but this would be his best chance at finding some.]
no subject
It wasn't any fault of his, of course. It was just. A thing. The desire to avoid vulnerability, and familiarity.]
Both, if you might be so kind.

I'll just be a moment, Your Grace.
[he ducks out and it takes him several moments to track down a satisfactory cheese plate, sneaking a few slices on the way. he returns with several different kinds (and colors) of hard cheeses, some brie, a generous schmear each of chevre and a triple creme, a handful of hazelnuts and shelled chestnuts, and a lot of fruits that have no business being in season at the same time--strawberries, blueberries, apple slices, grapes, tiny grapes, fresh figs. There's a small pool of honey and a jam that will turn out to be quince, but he thinks is probably marmalade. he slides it in front of dany and sits back down next to her.]
Don't ask me what the cheeses are called. Everything here has its own name. I don't know how anyone could be expected to remember them all.
no subject
I may be blood of the dragon, but I hardly have the stomach of one. I trust you will assist me with all of this.
[Pointedly, she reaches for a grape and pops it in her mouth with one eyebrow raised. It wasn't exactly a command, but she is obviously not expecting to be refused.]

[ it's not that bobbi doesn't appreciate a good waffle - but it seems a little incongruous in the setting. waffles seem more wholesome than this club by a long shot. not more wholesome than jon, though, so maybe it is fitting. ]
Is there a story there or do you just really like waffles?
[ does she have to shout a little over the music? yes. but it's fine. ]
no subject
They were the nicest cakes we could afford.
[sweetwaffel is popular, and gourmet waffles froma trendy waffle place seemed more appropriate than a cake from an unknown bakery.]
Prompto's real present isn't ready yet, and I didn't want to show up empty-handed.
no subject
I'm sure he appreciates it. They look great.
[ very fancy!! very
instagrammablecooltalkable!leaning in a little, as though there is a real danger of being overheard. ] What's the real present?
no subject
A longbow, if Fitz will make it.
[if not.....well. darts??]
no subject
[ bobbi's lips quirk up, smile broadening in increments until she's grinning widely. ]
You're outdoing all of us with that.
no subject
Not our host for the evening.
[he looks around vaguely, sighs.]
I'd be interested to hear what you think of all this.
[or read, considering.]
no subject
Let me get myself a drink and I'll tell you all about it. Want one, too?

[ Rey didn't expect to have to bring a present, and thus is surprised by Jon's and doesn't have a strong capacity for parsing it. Good times. She did, however, help herself to some of the meat because wow. WOW. What a treasure. ]
You didn't have to bring your own in. There's meat, too. Not just insects.

It's a gift. For the party. A gesture of goodwill, in honor of the nameday lads. Prompto's real gift isn't ready yet, and I didn't want to turn up empty-handed. Cakes tend to go over well.
[he sighs. perhaps this was not the done thing here. he'd never had to deal with this sort of thing himself before. he tries a small conspiratorial smile.]
The cheese is real, too.
[it doesn't REALLY matter what's inside a sausage, but good cheese is harder to replicate.]
no subject
[ Rey looks suddenly concerned. ]
Should I go get something?
no subject
I'm sure they'd rather have you here. You could aways find them nameday gifts after the party, if it's important to you.
[he's going to have to find one for cain. surely sansa can make him a better shirt........another grim smile.]
Prompto was surprised we brought these, too. I know nothing of the traditions of this world. But it didn't feel right to me, not bringing anything.
no subject
[ At least, she thinks it is. But it's also one of those things where she remembers there's a lot for her to learn. She highly doubts that's an unusual thing--Jon is, on the whole, better socialized than she is, even if his culture gap is severe around technology. ]
What are they? [ She peeks into one of the boxes. ]

Waffles. With lemon curd. You haven't been to Sweetwaffel?
[liege waffles, to be specific. he fishes one out and offers it to rey.]
Try one.

He's lacking scrubs this time, dressed in shades of black to suit the setting. V moves like a solitary creature, not adhering to any singular group -- it's a hint of his introverted nature, further illustrated by only taking the time to speak to one or two people during his explorations of this so-called party.
But another Displaced? Keeping watch over a table with a box of waffles? Of course he's going to meander over, a new cane in-hand, with a slip of a grin.]
Waffles?
[An interesting choice.]
no subject
You made it.
[he was genuinely worried, and felt more than a little responsible, when v failed to turn up at the safehouse. too distracted with dany's business to make any serious inquiries, but worried nonetheless. he gestures at the waffles.]
Help yourself.
[there is a lemon curd drizzle.]
no subject
[Whether he means he made it to the party, or just in general, he doesn't clarify. V is busy leaning forward on his cane, surveying the state of the waffles. That's quite a helping, no doubt mostly for the birthday boys not currently present.
The lemon curd drizzle has a pleasant scent, catching in his nose.]
Maybe if there's any leftover later. These are for Prompto and Cain, aren't they?
