[There is technically a 'brochure,' or a welcome packet, so Quentin assumes he's read it, but he also knows that he usually is the only person who does all the reading. He probably knows the entire thing by heart. And yeah, the apocalyptic parts, they're not really a surprise. Climate change, wars, those are all kind of expected even in their time. A few hundred years down the line, probably, which this is.
Quentin assumes the guy is being dramatic; he reminds him a lot of Penny right then, who would probably do the same thing. As someone who is in fact dead, it's a strange thing to hear, but denial is one of the stages. He gets it.]
The Displaced, us, own a bar, so you'll have a place to drown your sorrows. There's that.
[If there wasn't any alcohol, Quentin himself would probably drop down many levels of cheerful and pleasant. It's a necessary go-to when things get rough, and this place pings his anxiety pretty much every waking minute.]
It could be worse. We could be in a Mad Max scenario fighting over gas in a desert. Or fighting zombies in Dawn of the Dead. Or that Will Smith vampire one when it's just him and the dog.
[See, pop culture references abound here too. Quentin does have an annoying tendency to look at the bright side, or at least force himself to, so he doesn't go down his dark roads.]
It's definitely more sci-fi than horror. We have AI and everything.
