WELL SOMEBODY DID YOU DIRTY —

WHO: New Amsterdam’s hottest true crime podcast (Leo Fitz, [personal profile] retravel; Bobbi Morse, [personal profile] covertness; and Marcos Diaz, [personal profile] claro)
WHERE: The City Morgue
WHEN: Early August
WHAT: Investigating the mysterious death of the nurse
NOTES OR WARNINGS: Talking about dead bodies, y’all

[ The team comes together in a surprisingly simple manner. Morningstar reaches out to their contact in the city morgue and confirms that the nurse’s corpse was processed the morning of the fire. From there, it’s a matter of doing it “old school” — at least, that’s how Fitz phrases it when he tugs on his cap and tosses Bobbi the prototype of her freshly designed collapsable staves. They’re not electric yet, but she never needed tricks to get the job done. Hell, she could sort this on her own, if everyone involved wasn’t concerned about the dangers of escalation following the nurse’s rapid sequence of discovery and demise. As such, they take minor precautions: Slight alterations to their style, with the SHIELD patented disguise of baseball caps and sunglasses, and a few extra touches, including reversible jackets (for a quick change). A little effort could save them a metric ton of trouble.

‘Course they’re inhuman now, anyway. Mutants, powered people, cyborgs. Whatever. Fitz’s ability isn’t likely to be of use, but he does know how to read autopsy an report and log, if they can gain access to one. The real assets today, however, are Bobbi and “the human truth serum,” as Fitz put it, with his scampish and unnatural charms, Marcos Diaz. There’s an uneasiness between the boys, though Fitz wonders if that’s only his paranoia — or guilt, perhaps, take your pick. He was impressed by Marcos’ restraint in their first conversation regardless.

They meet at a rendezvous point two blocks from the morgue around midday, a central area where workers enjoy their lunch break, presently buzzing with energy. As he waits, Fitz drinks a disgusting protein shake (for want of something caffeinated, wah wah), held tight in his bandaged hand, and peers over his shades, scoping out a nearby hovercar parked in an alley off the main drag, just in case they find trouble later. Always have an exit strategy. ]

[ she's missed having her staves. she's missed having her staves desperately, but katelin philips wouldn't have staves on her. in the end, bobbi hides the prototypes in her handbag where they're out of sight of the general public - and out of marcos' sight, too - but close enough for her to access, should it become necessary.

she has no intention of leaving the staves behind.

they meet marcos two blocks from the morgue. bobbi's wearing a baseball cap, short blonde hair peaking out from beneath it. when marcos shows up, she smiles. there's a tinge of nervousness and apprehensiveness to it that she doesn't actually feel. ]

Should we go over the plan one last time?
