interminably and you?
WHERE: Throughout New Amsterdam, and later, Casablanca
WHEN: After the charity gala
WHAT: Making arrangements, making discoveries, and making a mess.
NOTES OR WARNINGS: None as of yet! But, it's Klaus. He can be violent and brazen. Possibly NSFW in the Casablanca thread later on.
i. doing — open
( Characteristically, Klaus has found a way into this world, become a part of it in a way he doesn't expect. He has friends, confidantes, interests (and the best interest, in this case, in some people). It's the first time, however, where plans stack on top of one another. He sends one message to Hope in the morning, realizing that it has been a few days since she's returned any. He tries to think nothing of it because he has errands to run.
He starts off at a higher end boutique before deciding he doesn't want to be the rolling carrier tourist. Wandering, he finds a leather shop, and choosing something more akin to a rucksack to travel with. It will help him stand out less in Casablanca.
Finally, he browses a few more shops, trying to find shorter sleeved tops he doesn't altogether despise. He even picks up quite the fashionable tunic and a pair of linen-like pants.
He stops at one of the food carts among his travels, having gotten hungry. Hunger is different now. Blood nourishes him, but the more energy he expends, the more he needs to and wants to eat. He has a lettuce wrap for old time's sake and something on a stick. )
ii. "dating" — clarke
( Klaus has arranged for a generous whiskey flight that awaits he and Clarke at the end of a private tour of the New Amsterdam National History Museum. Despite how comically his boss fails at being a boss, his connections still come in handy. Klaus dresses up, if only because this is a won date. He was bought fair in square, and that means Clarke gets the date treatment. His shirt, buttoned and black compliments tight black jeans and a nicer, more designer shoe.
He greets Clarke at the front door and knocks once.
The tour is as one would expect. They each learn something new about their new future home - perhaps Clarke all ready knows some of what they see and read about, but for Klaus, all of this knowledge is new. Everything Klaus does has a purpose, including this date. No matter his company, he still would've learned more. He takes everything in, making light commentary here and there, listening to the docent who has an eye for Clarke. At one point, Klaus naturally slips his arm around Clarke's. No, he isn't interested, but it is rude to flirt with a man's date, even if it's a more formalized, charitable affair. He even whispers something in her ear. It's nothing, a minor joke. But, the docent gets the picture and eventually, they're left alone in one of the rooms where they keep more Slavic art and culture.
A table has been set up, and a standing menu detailing the five whiskeys they will taste. A plate of charcuterie (but, off because this is new Amsterdam) is set out, as well as a pitcher of water. Two ornate stools are placed by that table.
If Klaus could, he'd pull out the chair, but in this case, it's a stool. So, in a gentlemanly way, he pulls his arm back and retrieved bottle number one simply titled "Black Rock" and pours it into their glasses. )
iii. drinking — open
( It's after his time with Clarke that he realizes something. He doesn't say it out loud, doesn't let Clarke know. He doesn't even tell her that he's stopping by Red Wings, something of a local haunt for all of them.
Instead, he tells Ren to leave the bottle, but to also not worry. It's not going to be one of those nights. It is this bottle, and bust. He doesn't tell Ren he's had his fill of whiskey. But, the water refills and sobering but illuminating conversation with Clarke has returned him to an equilibrium.
He closes down Red Wings, keeping the one bottle in front of him. Sipping slowly. Observing. He's quieter than he usually is. When the bottle is finished, he raises his glass in the air, silently toasting somebody, before taking the last drink as a full shot.
He tips Ren well before silently making his way out of the bar. )
iv. daring — angela
( He doesn't want to be here. He doesn't want to feel. He knows in his heart Hope has returned to her own life, a life she deserves to live, no matter how much she isolates herself. He truly believes she will find her way. It leaves him with a sense of closure he thought he'd gotten, a glimpse of who Hope will become, and a vacuum in the form of a power without an other half. As far as he knew, he power was directly tied to his daughter. Which makes him half a vampire, an useless werewolf and powerless.
He sends the message to Ginia as he packs. The timing is perfect and maybe it's a few hours earlier than the two of them had discussed, but Klaus has always been unpredictable - spontaneous. He daggers family members right and left, stays away because it's for Hope's own good, lies to himself about that, finally shapes up and sacrifices his life.
For what he believes is the "better."
Emotions are tricky things, as are memories.
He waits at the entrance to the caves, rucksack over his shoulder, mindlessly scrolling through friends' and strangers' Cooltalks. He needs to get away. )
