Pictures of last night ended up online, I'm screwed
WHO: Thor (
ofmyth), Loki (
selfimage), a bunch of booze, and everyone!
WHERE: Safehouse 2.0
WHEN: Late afternoon, evening, night on the 28th.
WHAT: Some people took down the monster, some people kept the group safe, some people snuck off to steal booze. They can all celebrate together.
NOTES OR WARNINGS: This is a post-event mingle! Loki stole a bunch of alcohol and Thor is going to make sure everyone gets some. Debrief, have fun, get wreckt, prepare for tfln the next morning.
Tag your own/check individual threads for specific warnings.
[When Loki hears the news of the Godzilla's demise, it takes a moment to sink in. There were doubts when a handful of the refugees wanted to run out and play hero, especially with their lack of abilities (for those who had them). He expected Thor to come back content on his involvement at best, broken and nursing his own failure, at worst. This? This is better than the best, and it's worthy of celebration. I's hard not to be pleased, hard not to congratulate; it's Thor's victory post the fall of Asgard, and Loki's sure that he's reveling in it.
Then, comes the booze: all different bottle shapes and sizes, some dark with lighter liquid, others opaque filled with something that has a more amber tint. It's unloaded carefully by all of them, messily lined up on the frames of one of the cots..
Thor looks to be almost a different creature than the moping, sullen thing he'd been since they arrived in the safehouse. Getting to his feet he stands taller, shoulders held back, a bright look in his eyes. Loki backs him up, tinking a metal spoon against one of the bottles to get everyone's attention. As Thor speaks he looks around the room, seeking out the eyes of everyone present.]
Seven days ago we were strangers. We were brought into an underground bunker, unsure of who we were and how we had come here. Some were angry, some afraid, others unsure. It's thanks to the aid and kindness of Gaby and El that we survived at all, here in this foreign city. Today, we have proven we will not merely surivive here.
[Thor hasn't met everyone here, but that's ultimately not the point. In his mind they are in this together, for better or worse. There is a 'we' who celebrate together now just as much as there is a 'they' who are responsible for their being here.]
Today we have repaid Gaby her kindness. Today we have protected not only her people here in the safehouse, but the people of the city. Today we have proved our strength to ourselves, to the city, to any who are watching us. Today, we set fear in the heart of our captor. [He seems to relish that last one most of all.]
Seven days ago we had little to celebrate. Today we raise a toast—[Up goes his bottle, held high and triumphant.] To us! To what we have done today! To victory!
[Loki chimes in, shaking the little bottle in his hand.] To New Amsterdam!
[Thor's arm is held high while others raise their drinks, then Thor upends his to drain it in a long pull.]

Thor talks, and he drinks. ]
There are no Midgardian heroes here, are there? No Avengers, no Captain America, no super powered fellows to reign in unforeseen alien threats. If so, they may be scrubbed like so many stains off of this world's technology.
[ then, he looks into the narrow mouth of his bottle. ]
no subject
[It's a serious conversation, but Thor can't quite focus completely on it. He feels like he's drunk much more than he's sure he has. Hm.] Who knows, maybe we'll be the first heroes of the New Amsterdam. The new avengers.
no subject
there's a sharp laugh. ]
You can't think of anything better? The height of creativity, brother!
no subject
What would you call us, brother? Creativity is your domain!
[His free hand is clumsy as he goes to help his brother up. Habit has his fingers coming to rest at the side of his brothers face- and they stop there.
Thor's contentment is all-encompassing. There are regrets and worries and losses present at the back of his mind, but they're put away easily. Why wouldn't they be? He has a victory to celebrate, something to drink, friends to celebrate with (perhaps a pretty face to flirt with later in the evening)- and he has his brother.]
no subject
Oh—I'm sure Stark and Strange would love it if you took my suggestion.
[ there are hands on his face, even while he's talking. he's forgotten all about the unfortunate consequence of emotional exchange. there's a dull blue glow on his chest, and a cocked brow on his face. the buzzing emotions that invade are that of bubbly elation, fondness for Thor, graciousness for release, all covered thick by the alcohol. ]
no subject
Ah. You do care. [Thor says it like it's the most obvious thing in the world, not even a hint of surprise in his voice. The alcohol helps, making things simpler than they might otherwise be.]
no subject
for a brief moment, he's stumped. it's a rare occasion that Thor knows something that he doesn't, and if he wasn't quite as intoxicated as he was, he wouldn't be sure if he liked the feeling or not. there's a frown that tugs at his lips as he grasps for explanation, and then it hits him as hard as the drunkenness does.
he puts a hand on Thor's face to push him away. ]
You're so loud! [ push push push. ] Get off!
[ now he's kind of embarrassed. ]
no subject
I think Strange and Stark don't have as much experience with you as the ones from our world. They might not mind your suggestion. [They don't have to talk about it. In fact, it's probably better if they don't. Thor's content to have felt what he felt.]
no subject
I'm still Loki ... [ he argues, half-heartedly. ] I know the implications.
no subject
Even if the thought occurs to him that he could just... touch his brother again for a little more clarity.
In a drunken feat of superhuman selfcontrol he resists.]
Aye. You're my brother and a son of Odin, full of mischief and tricks. You're not the black-hearted, spite-filled one I've seen you be. [It's not that simple and even drunk Thor won't pretend it is.
Nevertheless.] They'll give you a chance, I'm sure of it.
no subject
he sighs as Thor speaks, and tips his head at him. ]
No, I'm not that person anymore. [ it's said half to himself, half to Thor. (he's stuck in the chest with the thought of the child self he had slain, the mantra of I win that comes with it, and the feeling of guilt that washes over him. he's thankful that Thor's lifted his hands, and wonders just how close to the blade he may be dancing.) ]
...
I'm still myself, of course, just ... [ he slurs the end of the word, and wrinkles his nose in distaste. ] Changed. I had to change.
[ clearly: ]
I'm still a dirty thief, of course.
no subject
Always a dirty thief. [With a nod of agreement he reaches for the bottle, raising it up in a toast as he leans back.] We all had to change, after Ragnarok. It just took you some time.
no subject
there's a little heh. ]
It took everyone some time, I think change was just ...
[ worth the larger sacrifice.
but you didn't want to change, did you? you wanted to stay the same. ]
... not within our grasp. We were creatures of cycles, and now we're not. Change came for us.
