Pictures of last night ended up online, I'm screwed

WHO: Thor ([personal profile] ofmyth), Loki ([personal profile] selfimage), a bunch of booze, and everyone!
WHERE: Safehouse 2.0
WHEN: Late afternoon, evening, night on the 28th.
WHAT: Some people took down the monster, some people kept the group safe, some people snuck off to steal booze. They can all celebrate together.
NOTES OR WARNINGS: This is a post-event mingle! Loki stole a bunch of alcohol and Thor is going to make sure everyone gets some. Debrief, have fun, get wreckt, prepare for tfln the next morning.
Tag your own/check individual threads for specific warnings.

[When Loki hears the news of the Godzilla's demise, it takes a moment to sink in. There were doubts when a handful of the refugees wanted to run out and play hero, especially with their lack of abilities (for those who had them). He expected Thor to come back content on his involvement at best, broken and nursing his own failure, at worst. This? This is better than the best, and it's worthy of celebration. I's hard not to be pleased, hard not to congratulate; it's Thor's victory post the fall of Asgard, and Loki's sure that he's reveling in it.

Then, comes the booze: all different bottle shapes and sizes, some dark with lighter liquid, others opaque filled with something that has a more amber tint. It's unloaded carefully by all of them, messily lined up on the frames of one of the cots..

Thor looks to be almost a different creature than the moping, sullen thing he'd been since they arrived in the safehouse. Getting to his feet he stands taller, shoulders held back, a bright look in his eyes. Loki backs him up, tinking a metal spoon against one of the bottles to get everyone's attention. As Thor speaks he looks around the room, seeking out the eyes of everyone present.]

Seven days ago we were strangers. We were brought into an underground bunker, unsure of who we were and how we had come here. Some were angry, some afraid, others unsure. It's thanks to the aid and kindness of Gaby and El that we survived at all, here in this foreign city. Today, we have proven we will not merely surivive here.

[Thor hasn't met everyone here, but that's ultimately not the point. In his mind they are in this together, for better or worse. There is a 'we' who celebrate together now just as much as there is a 'they' who are responsible for their being here.]

Today we have repaid Gaby her kindness. Today we have protected not only her people here in the safehouse, but the people of the city. Today we have proved our strength to ourselves, to the city, to any who are watching us. Today, we set fear in the heart of our captor. [He seems to relish that last one most of all.]

Seven days ago we had little to celebrate. Today we raise a toast—[Up goes his bottle, held high and triumphant.] To us! To what we have done today! To victory!

[Loki chimes in, shaking the little bottle in his hand.] To New Amsterdam!

[Thor's arm is held high while others raise their drinks, then Thor upends his to drain it in a long pull.]

[ It seems they were some band of merry transports. Only days ago was the whiplash of mood and emotions at an all time high, conflict and confusion running rampant among them. Of course, with the impending doom of the city — some people played hero, a role that Ciri was a bit use to. She's amused by this, elated someone took the damn beast down without causing chaos among the ranks.

It's somber until the speech occurs, until they celebrate not only survival but a heroism not many people would.

It's hard for her to feel out of place, despite being some strangers and some acquaintances. Ciri raises her heavy bottle of ale with approval. Whether it's to the two Asgardians or just anyone near by, she speaks in an amused tone: ]

Certainly know how to raise the spirits of the group...

[ Once the crowd mingles, Ciri can also be a bit drunk later on. This includes:

a. opening up to her back history
b. arm wrestling someone
c. overdoing it and needing assistance after hurling chunks.

This is stressful, y'all. ]

[Has Clarke ever had a moment in which she's been a part of a victory celebration? The answer is a "no," because every time she's had an opportunity, something's blown up in her face. Mount Weather arrived. Lexa betrayed her. The second nuclear apocalypse was happening. She was dying on a lab room floor or trying to steal away a bunker from hundreds of people outside of it. So, no.

That isn't to say she's never been to a party. She's done Unity Day celebrations, and given Thor's speech, this feels a lot more like that than anything else. She can have fun, though. She's done it before. She's partied before, in the days and months before her father had been arrested and floated. But yeah, a lot of good things for Clarke end in bad things.

She'll be treating this evening's celebration as a good thing that won't end in a bad thing. It isn't like one of Jasper's parties around Arkadia while they waited out their final weeks. It's celebrating life and the future, so—she'll join in. In her own way, that is.

Things Clarke will be doing:

a. messing with her neural implant while not yet paying attention to the drink in her hand, seeming a bit distant. She'll be looking for an art application.
b. sullenly drinking finally, but being a wallflower of sorts. Smiling at people's jokes but never seeming to join in. This is a departure from her younger self, but she still feels so removed from all of that these days, and it shows.
c. overtime coming in to join in on any drinking games, or trying to decide if she wants to, because the drink will help her toward that.

Overall, Clarke isn't a "drink loudly and share stories" type, but she's there, and won't be seen without a drink in her hand. Get her talking and she'll bound to be less uptight than normal.]

[The battle was rough on Keith. Every battle is rough on Keith. He's the type of guy who always pushes himself far past his limits. Some of the flying of cars had been refreshing. Having to deal with all of that was the kind of adrenaline rush that came easily. But there were other aspects: attacking the monster head on, needing to help chip away at its legs, and more that really exhausted him. Plus, he has the bruises to show.

Keith knows that what he wants and what he should do are two separate things. He's not opposed to merriment. In fact, he's ready for it, even if he's not leading the charge. He won't ... sit somewhere alone. He could. That's what he wants to do. He just knows he shouldn't, and they accomplished something big here.

The thing is, Keith isn't really going to drink. He won't go without one, being a part of the great party, but that doesn't mean he intends to take down the contents. So:

a. for the most part, Keith will occasionally get a whiff of whatever's in front of him and then pass it off to someone looking for a new drink. Presumably, a new something will be passed to him before long.
b. Sitting with everyone and laughing with everyone, but rarely chiming in himself.
c. Which really applies to this entire experience: Keith is likely to "uh" and "um" his way through any encounters or anyone being cheerful to him. How's that for a reply to an icebreaker?
d. He'll look after anyone who's worse for wear once they're well in their cups, well aware that he's not really in that state. Keith doesn't have a gentle hand, though, so there's likely to be some hilarity involved.

After all, while Keith went to the Galaxy Garrison and kids snuck off with special alcohol-related hookups a lot, Keith wasn't ... that kind of bad kid. He was antisocial and no one was likely to ask him to join in on a party. He screwed up so many training exercises throughout the years that he's never really been the type to be included. But he likes being around good company, so he's here now.]

[Akane is the spoilsport of this group. Like, she gets it that this is a party and a celebration, but she hates drinking so much. She hates that people are getting drunk when there are probably better ways to celebrate. And they're doing this on an empty stomach. It's probably laughable that she condones a lot of things, but she draws the line at drinking and for no good reason either.

But she's still wearing her 'ideal' woman facade so she'll be

a. in the kitchen making a buttload of food to sober everyone up.
b. out and about trying to get everyone to drink water.
or
c. for those fuckers who refuse, she'll put water in empty beer bottles and hand them out. They're probably too fucking drunk by this point to know it's water.

She's sure they'll thank her in the morning.

Maybe she'll make pancakes in the morning for those with hangovers if she feels like it.]

[ Scott's not big on parties. It's just...hard, for him. Social situations in general come with an incredible internal struggle to relax, just a little, just enough to try and move with the flow. If he's not on the field, not in the middle of a fight or a crisis or just plain buried in work, he still doesn't really know what to do.

And it feels a bit odd to be toasted. He's a bit more visibly one of the heroes of the hour— a rough fall from one of the cars left him with a twisted ankle by the end, and an incredibly bruised leg and hip. All bandaged and splinted now, of course. But still. He just did what felt right. It's his job, to do these things. On average, people do not make a big deal of thanking the X-Men for saving the day. And while it's not bad, it's increased the awkwardness he feels by at least threefold.

a. if offered a drink, he'll take it. He will drink it, mostly out of awkwardness, inexperienced enough to misjudge both his own tolerance and the actual alcohol content of the drink. It's rude to refuse a drink, right? At most, he might take a drink, make a face and go:
]

Oh, wow, that's a little strong.

[ And maybe abandon it shortly. But since he helped take on a giant monster, the drinks keep making their way to him eventually.

b. finding a wall and embracing his best life as a wallflower— insomuch as he can, with one leg beat to hell and back. It's not that he's unfriendly! Anyone who approaches, he's more than happy to engage, his face slightly red with either nerves or maybe a little tipsiness. There's plenty of space on the wall for company. But he's visibly stiff and out of his element with the concept of relaxing, and uncertain how to make his way from the edges of things into the middle. Or if he even wants to.

c. fiddling with the pair of red shades he lifted from a store. He doesn't really need them, and yet he can't really decide: does he want them on, or off? He feels better with them on. But then he remembers he's not going to wreck anything just by looking at it (theoretically), and he takes them off again. Or he pulls them out of his jacket pocket, flicking them open like he means to put them on— and then catching himself, and putting them back away again. Or just. Messing with them a lot.

But he's so used to wearing sunglasses at night, they'll be back on his face again before he knows it. Particularly as he gets drunker, and starts to feel less...in control.

Sniper's one of the stragglers, in later than the rest of the team Leeroy Jenkins Kaiju kill. Partially because they'd had a long, winding walk back trying to avoid the UNA and NAPD swarming into the area for clean up, partially because what was now officially their kaiju-slaying rifle had to be broken down and stashed for later pick up. From the day their transport crashed Sniper has never been anything but upbeat and brimming with energy and whether it's the high from killing the kaiju, or just their disposition, the excitement of the day hasn't worn them down at all.

One of the first things they had looted before the takedown was a change of clothes—specifically a hoodie, and they'd grabbed a medical mask out of a drugstore so with the hood up and the mask on their features were mostly concealed. They hadn't wanted their face on camera lugging around that enormous rifle (or stealing for that matter). They tug both down as they walk in, tipping their nose to the air. "There's food? I'm starving."

A. In general Sniper's good at socializing. They're happy to chat in between bites of food, about their part in the plan or the kaiju in general; they're curious if anyone ever seen anything like it, and what it's purpose here might have been. Questions about how they came to be able to competently use a tactical rifle, well, Sniper's good at managing conversations away from topics .

B. Though they'll be around the main party, they mostly stay away from drinking, just taking occasional sips, only playing in games where they can manage their intake. Their tolerance had never been high and was probably abysmal now. They still only have one workable hand, which is a good excuse to set down drinks often.

C. Someone probably brought music to this party. Sniper's a competent dance partner and not shy about grabbing wallflowers to dance with.

D. After everyone is thoroughly drunk and trending towards sleepy, Sniper wanders back into the kitchen under the guise of cleaning up a bit. Really they're flipping through the access on their implant, but they're familiar enough with this kind of technology that they can do that and wipe counters.

[ it's probably a bad idea to get drunk. it's probably a bad idea, but hell, holden figures at this stage, they all deserve some down time. he just wishes he had his crew here -- but then the truth is, if there was any downtime, alex and amos would've wandered off immediately, anyway. maybe in a few drinks more, he'll be able to pretend that's what's happened here.

for now, he raises his drink as well and mutters a "to keeping people safe" under his breath. naomi's words echo in his mind, as they so often do: we have to do good where we can, when we can. he misses her. he's been missing her even before all this.

right. he needs another drink. ]

Where did all of this stuff even come from? [ he muses while he goes to find another drink.

throughout the evening, he can be found
a. quietly nursing drink after drink in a corner, just watching people
b. dancing (very badly) later on, decidedly not quite sober anymore
c. drunkenly searching for coffee somewhere near midnight ]
