Pictures of last night ended up online, I'm screwed

WHERE: Safehouse 2.0
WHEN: Late afternoon, evening, night on the 28th.
WHAT: Some people took down the monster, some people kept the group safe, some people snuck off to steal booze. They can all celebrate together.
NOTES OR WARNINGS: This is a post-event mingle! Loki stole a bunch of alcohol and Thor is going to make sure everyone gets some. Debrief, have fun, get wreckt, prepare for tfln the next morning.

[When Loki hears the news of the Godzilla's demise, it takes a moment to sink in. There were doubts when a handful of the refugees wanted to run out and play hero, especially with their lack of abilities (for those who had them). He expected Thor to come back content on his involvement at best, broken and nursing his own failure, at worst. This? This is better than the best, and it's worthy of celebration. I's hard not to be pleased, hard not to congratulate; it's Thor's victory post the fall of Asgard, and Loki's sure that he's reveling in it.

Then, comes the booze: all different bottle shapes and sizes, some dark with lighter liquid, others opaque filled with something that has a more amber tint. It's unloaded carefully by all of them, messily lined up on the frames of one of the cots..

Thor looks to be almost a different creature than the moping, sullen thing he'd been since they arrived in the safehouse. Getting to his feet he stands taller, shoulders held back, a bright look in his eyes. Loki backs him up, tinking a metal spoon against one of the bottles to get everyone's attention. As Thor speaks he looks around the room, seeking out the eyes of everyone present.]

Seven days ago we were strangers. We were brought into an underground bunker, unsure of who we were and how we had come here. Some were angry, some afraid, others unsure. It's thanks to the aid and kindness of Gaby and El that we survived at all, here in this foreign city. Today, we have proven we will not merely surivive here.

[Thor hasn't met everyone here, but that's ultimately not the point. In his mind they are in this together, for better or worse. There is a 'we' who celebrate together now just as much as there is a 'they' who are responsible for their being here.]

Today we have repaid Gaby her kindness. Today we have protected not only her people here in the safehouse, but the people of the city. Today we have proved our strength to ourselves, to the city, to any who are watching us. Today, we set fear in the heart of our captor. [He seems to relish that last one most of all.]

Seven days ago we had little to celebrate. Today we raise a toast—[Up goes his bottle, held high and triumphant.] To us! To what we have done today! To victory!

[Loki chimes in, shaking the little bottle in his hand.] To New Amsterdam!

[Thor's arm is held high while others raise their drinks, then Thor upends his to drain it in a long pull.]

It depends on how gullible they are. [ he says very casually. ] Alas, you've seen right through me.

[ there are many times that he hasn't done it and people seem to believe that he did, anyway. it was kind of one of his superpowers. ]

Lucky me. [ holden's lips twist a little as he says it. not quite a smile. ]

You should pride yourself on it, there aren't many who do.

[ or there are, but they can never really put a thumb on him. Loki prides himself on being somewhat unpredictable. ]

[ holden gives a little shrug before crossing his arms. ]

Let me guess. You like it that way.

Like is a strong word. [ he says in an easy, casual tone. ] It presents a lack of challenge on occasion.

[ while he liked the satisfied high he got off of throwing people, it was better if there was some kind of challenge involved. ]

When things are too easy they're boring.

[dealign]

I don't know.

[ does he still have some of his drink left? look at that, he does. a sip, another, and then he doesn't anymore. ]

I wouldn't mind a little boring.

Really?

[ but it comes out with a slow cadence, an inflection curling up toward the end of the word. ]

Don't tell me you're overwhelmed already.

[ while Loki is aware that not everyone comes with the baggage of universe-hopping, he can't help but poke. ]

[ holden's lips press together for a moment, a hand coming up to rub across his features, hiding his expression at least for a little while. ]

No, of course not.

[ but does he sound convincing? no. the truth is that he was overwhelmed long before he even got here. ]

[ there's a mild interest as Loki watches him through bright, half-lidded eyes. Loki adapts quickly, but it's always difficult to tell how much it effects him with the way he deliberately carries himself. he likes to look like he knows what he's doing. ]

Honestly? [ he leans down just a little. ] That doesn't sound convincing at all. You might want to work on it, or people will ask questions.

[dealign]

There's just been a lot going on lately.

[ and he doesn't even mean waking up drugged and shorn-haired on a bus. but he draws his shoulders back a little. it isn't fair to put any of that on anyone else, and so he won't.

spreading his fingers a little, he gives a shrug. ] Don't worry about it.

[ well, that's the understatement of the century. ]

Worry isn't something I would call it. Curiosity, I suppose. You don't like talking, do you?

[ while Loki fears the air with his own chatter. ]

[ waking up here? actually almost relaxing in comparison, honestly. except now he's stressed about not being where he should be anymore. there's no one else the protomolecule, the station, miller's talking to. there's no one else who knows what's happening.

with him gone, how will alex and amos get out of the slow zone? how will anyone? how are they going to figure this out? holden has no idea.

but loki asked a question and he shrugs in response. ] I don't mind it when I've got something to say.

Indulge me, then.

[ for the time, Loki looks lazily curious, but Holden has his attention. ]

When do you have something to say?

When shit's going wrong, mostly.

[ right now, at this party, that doesn't seem to be the case. ]

[ he drinks and then puffs out with a half-laugh. ]

So this is not-so-wrong, then? [ he doesn't say right, because things have gone far from right, but it leaves Holden's definition of wrong open. ]

We have drinks and no one's trying to kill anyone right now.
