WHAT: Tommy can't sit still or go outside and annoys everyone around him
NOTES OR WARNINGS:

all about trains
[ So, like, trains right? He's never been on a train before. Why would he when he used to be able to run almost faster than the speed of sound? It's cool, it's a great experience, he enjoys watching the scenery whoosh passed.

And now he's over it.

He can be found grabbing food from the food cart and taking pictures and video where and when appropriate. If he's sitting he's sitting and drumming both of his feet obnoxiously, if he's standing he's probably pacing. He hates this and he can't actually think straight. It was cool and then it wasn't, and when you perceive the world faster than most people around you it makes things all the slower.

He drapes himself across two seats, heels of his hands pressed into his eyes. ] This sucks.

preserve dorms

It's like they dragged me out of one cage and put me in another.

[ It's. Cold.

Volunteer work is important and all, but it's fucking frigid and Tommy's never actually had to deal with cold like this before. He blows on his hands and rubs them together lightning fast. ]

You ever see anything like this before? [ He cants his head towards the snow out the window. ]

Uh. ( shoving both sets of hands down into the inside of tommy's jacket. this is better. definitely. this will help. )

Personally? It's complicated. World-wide? There are more religions out there than I could count. But definitely not Doom.

[ There's a reaction at that, Tommy jolts at the cold hands invading his personal space and half-heartedly shoves at Billy's face. ]

Your world is weird.

( look he didn't even put them under tommy's shirt, that wasn't bad at all! billy gives an amused huff, but pulls away a bit. shoves his hands into his own pockets instead. )

I think yours is weird. With all it's domains and you being a prince. ( but he says it teasingly--no harm meant. ) But I'll give you that you are very princely.

Then I'm doing something horribly wrong.

[ Lightly, teasing. Your hands are cold and maybe they should back away from the window, because he feels like a dog that wants to go for a walk but walks never come. ]

( who can't even sit still for four seconds at literally any point in time. he bets tommy moves around constantly in his sleep, too. just constantly. hands stay buried into his pockets when billy moves away from the window, tilts his head back towards tommy even if he fully expects him to just. follow. )

We haven't seen everything here yet.

[ he follows, because what else can he do. the window is boring! snow is less interesting than he thought it would be!! ]

If we've seen one hallway we've seen them all.

Maybe I'm just trying to get you to stretch your legs a little so we don't drive each other more insane than we have to.

( sometimes one can have a nice calm and relaxing time in the middle of the worst snowstorm in history in an entirely new city in a foreign dimension and sometimes one has to walk their (depowered) speedster twin brother around to tire him out. this is a fair and just activity to spend one's evening with, right? right. so. down this hallway they go. )

[ UUUUUUUUUUUUUGH. ]

Hate this.

I don't like it any more than you do.

( and they're walking. with billy pulling his hands out of his pockets and shoving them both under his own shirt. this is better. this is an improvement. )

A nap sounds really good about now.

I napped enough on the train from hell, thanks.

[ the train was fun for the first two hours. ]

Then we'll walk around for a bit, check stuff out, and I'll go rest while you do whatever it is you feel like doing.

( does he trust tommy not to get himself into trouble? nah. but he trusts tommy to be able to handle it. )

[ So getting into trouble with Loki, got it. He doesn't push the argument further he just rolls his eyes, rolls his shoulders and sighs, stuffing his hands in his pockets. ]

How do you think people are doing out there?

Badly. It's too cold, the power's shoddy, their food supplies will be fine in this weather but human bodies aren't made to survive freezing temperatures without help.

( unless they're iceman. who a: isn't here and b: would be depowered anyway. thanks for nothing iceman. )

But there's nothing we can do about it right this second.

If they can put us up in here why can't they do the same for them?

[ It's the bleeding heart baby activist in him. ]

I never thought I'd want to see Storm, but here we are. We could use a heatwave.

I wish I had an answer for you. Space is what I'm guessing, but even then--why not just leave the train here? Use that as extra space? It wasn't freezing in there, I get it's a train, just--even a cart could have housed so many people, but.

( this century is different. this world is but even then, billy gets it; even if he wants to help unconditionally, not everyone does. it's what separates heroes from, well. everything else. )

We could use a lot of things, but we're just going to have to make do with what we have.

Yeah.

[ It sucks, though. ]

I used to think maybe the world would be a little better if humans were in charge, but it's kind of just more of the same.

Humans, mutants, gods, aliens--it doesn't matter what people are. It matters who they are.

( and those that rise to power have usually done so through--atypical means. out of a need to have it for something that isn't just helping. )

And not just that either, it's--who they surround themselves with, what their people want. What they're willing to do. It's never a whole race, or a whole gender, or whole species or--any of that. ( but also this is getting a little Deep. ) But we'll figure it out.

Yeah, I know.

[ He'd wondered when he was younger. If maybe humans would be better than mutants in charge, if they'd be kinder and gentler - but Billy's world told him differently. ]

We got this.

And even if we don't, we'll figure it out.

( hopefully. god all of this is hard, especially now that-- )

We're--probably going to need to get a new roommate, too. Like, back in New Amsterdam. . I'm not sure if my job can keep paying the rent.

[ Oh.

Yeah.

Tommy works his fingers through his short hair. ]

Yeah... you got anybody in mind?

Honestly? No. Not at all. The only one I can think of to ask is Strange and that's--weird, I don't know what he's doing with himself right now or if he's already got a place or what. But I trust him?

( not that they really need trust but it's. a thought. billy doesn't want to live with anyone who can't handle tommy, who doesn't know to just. leave him to his own devices. he doesn't mind tommy in his space (most the time) or kate--but she's not here. it's just them now. )

Yeah, I guess...

[ Tommy shrugs off the thought. ]

He's like the sheriff in my world. That'd be really weird.

So, you pick the roommate.

( since this tommy is good at getting out, probably has met a few people. billy's--met a couple, but no one he'd go "hey, move in with me please?" to. )

I dunno. Maybe one of the people we bunk with here would be down with rooming with us back home?

Maybe.. or I guess if we can't find someone, we can always move back into the safehouse.
