> DEPARTURE BY TRAIN Early in the day on November 28th, Prompto and Poe will conspire to get an out-of-service train car onto the same tracks where the Displaced were guided by Cassius earlier this month. By all measures, the train car doesn't look operational. There are telling dents in the side, and it does not appear to be powered on. Yet those involved in the rescue operation already assembled are climbing on board like they know that this is their ride. Inside, the train is fairly battered. Some of the seats on the far wall seem to have been damaged when the train collided with something during the EMP, and the rattling of the crash took out some of the internal handrails as well. Once everyone is settled, though, the car begins to move. At the front of the car, Poe uses his power to move the train car on the tracks and out of the city. As they hit a checkpoint, the car doesn't slow down to be inspected; instead, it accelerates and blows right through the barrier, which makes for a pronounced jolt for all the passengers inside. Once the train is rolling outside of the city limits, the Displaced can grab scrambler masks that have been provided by Morningstar for use in infiltrating the outpost when they arrive. It is imperative, El suggests, that they don't allow their identities to be compromised. They will also remind the Displaced to keep this project under wraps, lest Morningstar as a whole has its operations compromised. This is a good time to solidify any plans about what to do when the outpost is reached. The train ride won't be especially long, but long enough for some tension to settle over the car. > INFILTRATE THE OUTPOST The outpost they arrive at is a less grimy version of what the Displaced saw earlier in November. The interior is almost identical to what was present there, with some wings repurposed as jailing sites. There are bright, fluorescent lights with white walls and a sterile smell throughout. Even cleaned up, these labs do not recognize any of those that the Displaced may have seen in their dreams. The description below is borrowed from the arrival log for reference: The building is six stories tall. The first floor has a lobby/waiting area, a cafeteria, and some office spaces. The second floor is the dormitory floor, which is where the employees would usually sleep if they chose to stay at the facility while working rather than returning to the city in between shifts. This is where the new arrivals woke up. Floors three through five are dedicated to lab spaces, which is where the actual research work is usually done. Most of these laboratories are going to be locked, but that won't stop Displaced from breaking into them if they want. Some of the lab rooms also have exam rooms. Displaced will be able to swipe lab equipment and medical supplies, such as syringes, vials/beakers, first aid supplies, scalpels, bandages, multi-lens microscopes, etc. The top floor is dedicated to offices for higher-ranked scientists, so think of it as the C suite. All floors also have bathrooms, of course, and the dormitory wing also has showers. ✦ Notably, this outpost is also empty of scientists. However, stoic soldiers stand guard at every door. These well-armed warriors are with the UNA, who has taken over the outpost. These soldiers are not an easy fight. In the fights with UNA soldiers, PCs might die and need to be revived in New Prague by Morningstar.Once the agents are freed, the Displaced can make their way back to the exit of the outpost, where Poe Dameron waits in an armored truck liberated from the UNA. This flying truck is meant to transfer large numbers of UNA soldiers for load-outs, so despite the Displaced and rescued agents' numbers, it will be sufficiently spacious to fit them all. Though it flies, it's smarter to stay low in the interest of staying off trackers on their way to New Prague, where they can hopefully wait out the heat of pursuit by the UNA.✧ DISTRACTION: Some of the PCs may choose to deal with the UNA by attempting to distract them using wit, charm, or apparent helplessness. PCs may search for a way to draw attention away from some of these doors to let others sneak past. > NEW PRAGUE When they arrived in New Prague, El contacts local Morningstar agents to escort them to a safehouse. Notably, El will warn the Displaced that no other parts of Morningstar know about zeir identity as an AI. El is hoping that the Displaced will keep their secret, but is more concerned with helping than with keeping them separate from the New Prague Morningstar chapter. These Morningstar agents will bring the Displaced to an abandoned chain convenience store at the edge of town, Zesco. The convenience store is located near the edge of the city, and it's meant to be a temporary stop. The upper part of the store is just an empty space, though there is a wall where it's clear that there were once icee machines. All of the Morningstar agents will be held under an abandoned convenience store. ✦ The inside of the safehouse is like most safehouses, but since it's meant to be temporary, there aren't any clothes or food in place to help someone out. There will be Morningstar agents who come in to supply these things throughout the stay, showing up about an hour in to help out.> THE RETURN✧ It will be apparent that this safehouse is not one of the ones that's typically used in New Prague, but instead one of the miscellaneous ones that they've had around. Unlike New Amsterdam, most of the safehouses in New Prague weren't compromised. Of course, there is a high likelihood that this safehouse will be decommissioned after all of this.✦ Beyond the safehouse, New Prague is a large, beautiful city housing around 30 million people. Unlike many of its brethren, it pays homage to the "Old" Prague in a number of ways: there are impractical cobblestone streets, and the architecture adheres to an older, gothic style throughout the city. In fact, there are ordinances that demand the city continues to look as if it harkens to an older past and time. Above all else, New Prague is very green: there are trees everywhere. The train ride back to New Amsterdam will resemble the ride to and from New Tokyo, but it is a considerably shorter trip. There is no stop for the train at New Amsterdam, so they will need to devise a way to get off the train without dying in the process - this will be difficult, but not impossible. This should not be too much of a surprise, as some of the New Prague Morningstar agents will join them on this train ride, and will explain the situation. Once they're outside the city, these agents will get them back into the city, as they've done this rodeo before. They can sneak in easily through the opening made by Cassius earlier in the month, which if it has been found, has not yet been addressed. |

( by now the agents will have been moved from their cells, ushered toward whatever transport they've managed to commandeer for themselves, and while he would like nothing more than to revel in the triumph, he has greater concerns right now. namely, getting rey out of her restraints. touching as much of her as he can to assure himself that this is real. that she is real. )

If anything, that's what Riku has always done best. His mind is always racing, rushing, trying to find a way to deal with a problem. Growing up, he always had the problem where he thought too much. He could never get out of his own head. He's trying to be more relaxed about it now, but after Caroline disappeared and Rey subsequently followed? He's starting to realize he should be worrying more. Not just following his heart. Not just assuming things are fine.
It's doing a number on him.
But it's easier when he has a focus. Right now: that focus is Rey. He waits until other people have had their time with her to sit down beside her. He's been out already, and intends to go walking around some more.
Still ... she's his friend. That counts for something. His friends are who he worries about the most.]

But he remembers waking up alone and lost in that hospital, hunted by monsters before he could even make sense of what had happened. He doesn't have a real reason to go on this mission, but he has even less to stay behind, passing the time doing not much while someone else needs help. So he'd gone, pipe strapped to his back in a makeshift sling, and he'd done his part. Now he's ready to jump and roll and take his chances, but Rey's sudden declaration has him holding back for the moment.]

SAFEHOUSE
Every piece of the puzzle was important, after all.
By this point, they're sequestered in the New Prague safehouse, supplies having arrived and passed out as necessary. She sits down near Rey, carrying a couple of pre-packaged snacks and/or rations of some kind, and she holds one of them out to the other girl.]
Want some? [She just trying to help pass things out, and she noticed the young woman across from her looking worse for the wear just an hour or two earlier.] I don't know what it is, but beggars can't be choosers, right?

i can't be tamed by your prompts
There is relief in her eyes when she spots Rey on her way to the showers, safe and sound if not dizzy and run down. She has to break into a light jog to catch her arm in the hallway, and when the other woman turns around, she will find Daenerys struggling to unpack and repack her emotions. She is relieved, but she is also concerned. And somewhere in there mixes frustration and anger -- anger that she had gotten into this situation, frustration that so many people were now at risk because they had to come for her.
And then relief again, knowing that they still managed to succeed. All of the emotions momentarily steal her words from her as her eyes drop to the hole in her shirt. The talk she'd had with Octavia comes rushing back to her in an instant, and bile sticks in her throat.]
So...that is why they spared you.
[She finishes closing the gap, and only forces herself to release Rey's arm once they are mere inches apart.]
I was not certain the others would reach you in time.

But really, he's just worried about Rey. He, Riku, and the others had made space for another group to free her and the other people who'd been abducted, and he's glad that they were successful in that. He hasn't yet had a chance to talk to her himself, though, and he won't feel at ease until he does.
First Caroline, now Rey. Why does this keep happening to his friends? Sora wishes that he could make sure it didn't happen to begin with, rather than having to rescue them or check in on them after the fact. But he knows it isn't always that simple. He'd had to do a lot of rescuing back home, too. Some of those people had been lost or in danger for much longer.
He waits until Rey's alone and doesn't look completely overwhelmed before approaching. When he catches her attention, she asks him something ("did we find them all?"), but Sora doesn't respond, at least not immediately.
Instead, he marches right up to her to give her a hug, his face pressing into her shoulder. ]

new prague ..... ish ......
Vigilant, watchful, and unnecessarily so — but Octavia knows what will happen if they're found here, and who they'll choose to target in the chaos. Rey doesn't deserve that fate; even a few moments with her have solidified she's a better person, better than most Octavia comes across. Maybe even too good for Morningstar, Octavia thinks bitterly, for what she's been through.
She's taken an interest in a less than fascinating spot on the wall when she sees Rey stirring, shifting to get up. Octavia's eyes move, betraying none of the concern she harbors, despite the question that comes out of her mouth. ]
Shouldn't you stay in bed? [ This is how nursing someone back to help works in her mind ? ? ? She's no good at it, she knows; Clarke would be an improvement over Octavia, but like hell she'd trust Clarke with this when Octavia barely trusts herself with it. ] You're still safe. The UNA hasn't found us. [ That bears repeating, especially when it's followed by, ] Go back to sleep.

illya kuryakin ( ota )
[ perhaps it should be concerning that he takes any opportunity that he can get to find and face the una. perhaps he should try and let go of the anger he has towards them.
perhaps he will examine that later but for now, he is going to try and take out every single una soldier than he can. where some people sneak and try and stealth their way past these men, illya goes right for them. it's easy to access the anger, to feel it pour through him and give him the power that he needs to stay alive.
hopefully. the first soldier he encounters gets the heel of his hand driven up into his chin which is effective in knocking him backwards and giving him time to step closer and twist his head aggressively. he drops.
the second soldier that approaches catches him from behind and drives the butt of his gun into the back of illya's head. that...hurts. he drops to a knee and the soldier steps on his hand, effectively crunching a few of those bones and why is it always his hand? why?
adrenaline surging, illya throws himself into the soldier and grabs the gun with one hand and using the surge of power to jam it up into his face, cracking his helmet and giving him time to get up and get into the outpost.
that's mercy, leaving that man alive. perhaps he'll come back for him later.
the interior of the outpost isn't as bad as the building he'd been in just a little while ago. it's dank but it doesn't give off the air of death. cradling his hand close to his chest, he inches down the hall, peeking into different rooms to try and find either rey or one of the agents. most rooms are empty. some are filled with various items. he slips in a room or two, filling a discarded bag with various medical supplies, papers, and other items that might be of use. he's stealing from the una so he does not feel bad about it.
he doesn't dare call out because if there are more soldiers within, he doesn't want to draw their attention. ]
▶ 02; NEW PRAGUE
[ it takes incessant convincing to get him to see someone about his hand but he eventually does. and, as just as he expected, there are two broken bones. people need to stop going for his hands. but, he lets them put a bandage on his hand and then he makes himself scarce, letting those that need serious medical attention have their time.
since he'd use the id scrambling mask, he steps out into new prague and is immediately struck by familiarity. it's...well, it is not russia but it is close and he feels slightly nostalgic as soon as his feet hit the street.
he walks. that's all he wants to do is walk. he takes a few pictures of some of the architecture and trees but otherwise, he just enjoys a city that reminds him of something familiar. illya doesn't get homesick often but right now, he almost feels it.
he has to remember what he is here for and that there are people in danger constantly so he doesn't get too caught up in the sights. ]

her diminutive height does mean she is a little more beat up than he is, but this doesn't stop her from hitting the town with illya. at least part of the town, once she has been checked out by one of the doctors on hand. it's no injuries she hasn't had before and once they pop her shoulder back into place and give her a sling for her arm, she heads out of the safe house.
she strolls up with a half eaten kolache, a little stiff but pleased with her snack. ] This is delicious.

riku | kingdom hearts | ota
[If nothing else, the journey to the outpost is tense. Maybe Riku is making that up in his head. He recognizes that there is some chance of that, but he's not used to traveling with these many people to a destination. Heading to the Keyblade Graveyard had been different. Had been unique. And it wasn't long before they got divided and had to do it all over again. And then divided again. Yet those people were linked in a way that these people aren't.
Maybe this link is just as important, though. Yes, he thinks. That might be right.
When they're still far away from the outpost, he looks to the person next to him and remarks,] I used to have a long coat to hide my face. This is a lot less bulky.
[He holds up the mask to show what he's referring to.]
ii. new prague
[Somehow, getting to experience a new city is like getting to see a new world. That's the one thing about this weird planet. Earth has a lot of different places to see, and they're all so varied. New Prague reminds Riku a bit of Radiant Garden. The streets are all different, not necessarily ideal for slick conditions, but it looks nice.
He'll be wandering the city during the day there, trying to take in the sights. That means stopping at the river to overlook it, inhaling it. It's different from the river in New Amsterdam, but similar, too. He can tell it's not natural, but he doesn't care, either.
At some point, he'll stop to do some homework under a tree. There are a lot of them, and it seems to be natural.
But once it's cold at night, he'll return to the safehouse with a sour look on his face. Stupid Cassius!]
iii. train fleeing
[Is hopping off a train without Rey's help stupid and dangerous? Yes. This train is moving fast. The thing is, he knows that she needs to get a lot of people out, and he doesn't want to put too much on her. Besides ... he might be fine. They might be fine.
He looks to the person near him as they come upon their exit point.]
I think if we hold on to one another, we'll be okay. You're ready, right?
[No, he didn't ask. Riku just extends his hand to them. Right now, he's calm, focused. He wants to make this part easier on Rey, so his determination has sealed his fate.]
i.
How does a coat cover your face?
[it's not meant to sound rude--he likes riku, his odd non-sequiturs remind him of his younger siblings (all right, mostly rickon), and he's definitely a good kid jon intends to protect, but it comes out a little more snappish than he intended.
and it's not as if nobody in his world hides behind a hood, they are just usually attached to a cloak. he's just too distracted to apply that sartorial progression towards a coat.]

kylo ren - star wars - ota.
( even having been briefed on what to expect, the outpost manages to catch him off-guard; it’s a large building, six stories in all, and by all accounts swarming with soldiers.
dressed in dark tactical gear, his face concealed by a scrambler mask, kylo ren carries himself with the kind of purpose that promises violence to anyone foolish enough to get in his way. in one hand he carries what could easily be mistaken for a riot baton; a flick of the wrist reveals otherwise, however, as it expands into a staff, its tip carrying an impressive electric charge.
while he won’t actively seek out any soldiers, any that try to stop him will be dealt with quickly and cleanly. the strikes are hard, fast and target the vulnerable points of their armor. starting from the first floor, he’ll work his way up through the labs until he’s able to locate rey.
once he has her, he’ll have to be more cautious. their descent will be slow, as he’ll be unwilling to place her in further risk. anyone willing to help distract any wandering soldiers will be welcome. otherwise, feel free to encounter him at the transport, rey in his arms. )
› NEW PRAGUE;
( so, they survived, much to the shock of the new prague chapter. the safe-house they hole up in reminds him a little too much of the place casper had brought them too in june. with rey settled, he’s encouraged to shower and take a walk, with one of the agents generously offering to find him a set of spare clothes.
he goes, albeit reluctantly. wanders aimlessly until he finds himself in the old town square where he purchases something to eat and a mug of mulled wine. the vendors are helpful in their suggestions of other places he might find interesting, such as exploring the little quarter or taking in the view of the city from the bridge.
mostecká street eats up an impressive chunk of his time, with his purchases running the gamut of food (pastries, teas and blocks of wafer-like treats he’s assured he’ll be dreaming of long after he’s peeled the last one from its wrapper) to liquor and clothing.
it’s almost a shame that they only have the one night. )
› WILDCARD;
( have an idea? hit me up. i'm reachable either here or at
new prague
Her position is clear in the question she keeps asking: 'But he was here, right?'
Hallucinations would be a fun new addition to her stack of symptoms from the sleep deprivation and experimentation of the interrogation, but she can't rule it out. Kylo was gone when she was captured. She knew better than anyone since she'd been sleeping at his apartment more often than her own for the better part of a week.
They shepherd her into the shower and get her clean clothes. She's been wearing her current clothes for a week. It's probably time to just burn them and take the loss, particularly with how her shirt is cut up, but she won't let them take her jacket and she won't let them take the golden chain of dice that she clips stubbornly around her neck when she gets out of the shower. The new clothes are patchy and secondhand, but they're comfortable, and they're clean. She feels more human already, but she's still dragging her feet.
Someone pushes her back into her cot. Hope brings ration bars. Rey chews at them and dips in and out of restless sleep while they wait it out. Right up until she sees him come back in. Rey's on her feet too fast, staggering towards Kylo when she sees him, but she's underfed and overtired still and weak from days of mistreatment, so she has to grab onto a bed railing to keep herself on her feet when her vision goes black.
By the look of it, that's not going to stop her ontinued attempt to get to him. ]

[ at first, tbh, he's dubious about this pairup. once again, between rey, caroline, and now prompto, he still feels like the president of the babysitters club. (and not even a very good babysitter, don't remind him.) in the train yard where trains sleep, they come across a train car that seems to have been put out of service for a very good reason. it's seen some better days. maybe it was a victim of the emp? but it's their best bet, he realizes. which is why he turns to prompto and says ]
Okay, that one. How are we gonna do this?
train
[ so, it turns out that using his power to yeet the train onto the tracks, with very little training or attempting to do something of that scope before, took a lot out of him. like, a lot a lot. it's only by the grace of the force, the fact that it's a short ride, and his driving/piloting instincts to be reflexive that everything goes more or less okay on the way to the outpost. when the train stops and everyone starts filtering out, you might see him shambling around the car looking pale with his nose bleeding like he is going to put on a scrambling mask and head the fuck out with everyone else.
(he should definitely not do that.) ]
new prague
[ after the harrowing adventure as uber driver while being a sim with all red bars, he's ready to… take a minute to recharge in new prague. drink a juice box. since he didn't actually go out to the outpost and wore a scrambling mask while hijacking a flying truck, he feels confident in his chances at not getting kidnapped and dragged away somewhere. it's nice to have some time to stare dramatically into this distance on a bridge.
you can also find him in at least one bakery asking way too many questions about how x and y baked goods are made. he only has so many things to live for and one is becoming a master chef/baker. ]

The trains run on electricity.
[climbing up, bag with tools on his back, prompto takes a few steps inside and looks around before deciding for one of the ends of the car.]
If the circuit board isn't too messed up, I could try and fix it to get it running. Get the circuits to connect together, and all that. [he pushes up towards the high chair of where a conductor would seat—even if their sole job was to keep order and make sure people paid. but his idea is not to climb up on the seat, but rather to dig under towards the floor and pick at the cables.] Gonna have to—keep it to manual drive though.
[a frustrated sound comes from him, legs kicking up in the air before he puts them back on the ground; he turns to poe, settling down on the floor to look through his bag.]

reyscue: team distraction (closed to riku, sora, and prompto)
So, once the other volunteers make their way over to her, she introduces herself and makes a point to sit a little straighter when she speaks.]
We should expect a hostile response to our approach. How would any of you propose our first engagement?

A distraction, though? That he should be able to manage. No one's ever called him stealthy.
When he spots Prompto sitting with a silver-haired woman, Sora gestures for Riku to follow him over. The other people on this rescue mission have already assigned themselves to breaking in and fighting, so it falls to the rest of them to make sure they don't get overwhelmed. ]
Well.. there's probably gonna be way more of them. We have to be careful.
[ He's learned now that if someone dies on this world, there's actually a way to bring them back. But that doesn't mean that they should risk it, especially when he's pretty sure he's here on borrowed time. ]

Ojiro Sniper, OTA
[Sniper has a decent collection of wounds, but none of them are priority when their power can keep their broken arm straight and the gash in their arm unbleeding. They move around the safehouse helping out with all the various little chores need doing while the more injured get settled.
Finally, they sit down and strip enough to start dealing with things. The blue glow spills out from the edges of their clothes, illuminating the red gash along their bicep. It looks very fresh, like it should be actively bleeding. In fact, blood is visible, it's just all... staying put.
Sniper frowns over the wound, then shifts their attention to feeling out the broken bone in their forearm. Their power keeps the bone in place so it doesn't look too gruesome, but it's a very thorough break.
They'll glance up at anyone nearby.]
Do we have anyone who can heal? [ Back at the other safehouse, maybe. This is all going to take weeks to heal on its own, and they have work to do.]
