move-in day
It does make for a quick trip, though, so he dumps his stuff and makes his way up to the roof first thing, to check out the view and think about whether this is a good idea. He's lived with people before, though, but they were spread out in a much bigger living space, and he doesn't know anything about these guys. He trusts Sora, so they're probably not huge jerks. He doesn't trust anyone else, though, so he won't assume they can't be.]

it's just happy to see roxas has decided to move in! ] You did come, in the end! Do you like it? It's not the highest building, but a good jump will get you to the roof next door - and then the next, and there's a good spot to watch people juuuuust beyond the third roof or so.
[ said like a creep who spent an afternoon doing ancient chinese parkour to find such a spot ]
no subject
Uh, yeah. It's not bad. Better than where we were before.
[He raises a hand in greeting, already perking up at the thought of someplace even better.]
Especially if there's an even better roof nearby. I don't really want to watch people, I just...like being up high.

[ not to be judgmental, but definitely to be pushy about the way roxas thinks and feels. he won't go as far as to say that they got off on a good foot on the network, but he won't say that it was a 'bad' one either. just a foot, as so many first steps require. wei wuxian finds his way onto the roof and clambers on his hands and knees to where roxas sits, flopping down beside him in the way that all things are done by him: dramatically. he even starfishes on the rooftop, basking in the dying sun-warmed structure. the weather is turning so cold now, he'll miss the sun. ]
The only structures this tall where I come from are the towers. Some of them are for looking out, normally at people. One of them is just - a pretty thing, to show off wealth. I prefer natural height, like the mountains. Have you ever stood on top of a mountain and looked out across the world? It's so much.
no subject
I think it's because it's easier to think without getting caught up in stuff when I'm high up. There's more space, but I can still come down when I want to. I've never been to the top of a mountain, though.
no subject
If ever we're able to visit a mountainous region in this world, I would suggest you take the opportunity. If ever we dream of one, tackle it with your whole heart. I think you'll find no better place in the world to find that inner peace than atop a high peak.
[ rolling onto his side, he props his chin into his palm and regards roxas. ]
What sort of place did you come from, Roxas? If there were no mountains, was it a city like this?
no subject
Oh...that's a tricky question. [He chuckles, even though it's only a little funny to him.] The place I call home is a quiet town surrounded by a lot of forest. But I really come from Sora.
no subject
Oh? I'm definitely interested in hearing about both.
[ he's not the type to say that a 'person can't be a place', as he's found his own home in the arms of someone he's come to know very well. yet, he did not come from lan wangji. ]
Young master Sora looks a little too young to be a father, or a mother - but whom am I to say.
[ the sly grin, all his teeth on display, suggests he's only joking. ]
no subject
Ugh, no, don't call him that!
[Roxas makes a face, tongue sticking out a little. Sora is not his parent.]
He's... [Man, how does he explain this?] One time he splits himself and two and I'm the other half.
no subject
[ the moment that roxas sticks his tongue out, wei wuxian's hands find his cheeks and squish them. pure glee on his face. ]
-- and you're a whole unique person! Is this like Dawn? He was younger than Riku but they were identical, like twins! You're not Sora's twin, then? You can't be, you're very blonde after all - why can't I split myself in half like that and create a whole other 'me' that isn't me, could you imagine two Wei Wuxians wouldn't that drive Lan Zhan and Jiang Cheng absolutely insane or perhaps I could bring Mo Xuanyu back, I'm sure I could do that I know I lied to Xue Yang about piecing a soul back together but who would want to help Xue Yang of all people, you don't need to know who Xue Yang is, he was a naughty child and you're a delightful child and I'm just so excited, this is amazing!
[ yes he did just say that without taking a breath, sorry roxas ]
no subject
What?
no subject
You're a good young man, is what I mean to say. I'm glad to have met you and happy you came to live with us - whatever your origins.
[ he touches a hand to his own chest and says: ] This isn't my original body. A young man named Mo Xuanyu gave his life to give me a second chance. I mean to say that I understand what it can mean, to have been born from an atypical source.
no subject
That's kind of...cool? That you get it. I don't think a lot of people would.
no subject
[ and then he reaches out and lays hand to roxas's face, giving those round cheeks a little squish. one more thing that's bizarre about him; that desire to touch others who haven't outright slapped him down. he pushes them in gently, and then pulls his hands away with a bright smile. ]
Welcome home, Roxas!
no subject
Thanks. It's good to be here.
move-in day
He does remember Riku saying something about the three of them being at odds, but they seem to have sorted that out at least enough to find a vacant apartment and decide on it as a group.
So it's time to say goodbye to the safehouse, at least in the context of living there. Sora's accumulated some things during his months in New Amsterdam, mainly clothing and some cooking supplies of his own, so he's got all of that in a small suitcase that he takes up the elevator to his new home.
They even agreed to let Roxas come join them. It'll be... nice.
Sora steps into the apartment, dragging his suitcase with him, and smiles as he looks around. It's not huge or anything, but still big enough to fit six people. ]
Wow...
[ He's never had a living situation like this before. It should be interesting. And kind of fun. ]
move-in time
And yes, he put more emphasis on getting this stuff than clothes. Look, he's doing his best.
When he walks in, he sets it right in the center of the apartment.]
Okay, someone needs to help me get this stuff cleaned up and put away. Any volunteers?
( lwj & et al: shake your graveclothes off )
it is an unknown thing, how long lan wangji has been assembling and unpacking. for all of his appearance, it would seem that these tasks should be unknown to him. but, lan wangji is from a sect. no matter his position, he aids as much as any other does. and more, it was he who moved beyond the high walls of his home and scratched out a name from nothing more than wishing to defend, to assist.
they say hanguang-jun is always where the chaos is. and while moving is not what many would classify as such, lan wangji has never minded menial tasks. they have to be done, just as much as any other. and here, he puts himself to good usage.
he is sturdy lines and fluid movement, opting for stairs and balancing their meager sum of boxes. should he encounter any of the apartment as he is trying to get through the door, he will wait patiently until they have sorted what they need. or, perhaps, he will warn them quietly as he moves around them: ]
Do not lift your head. [ unless, of course, they wish to catch the corner of an ostensibly comfortable looking chair that he balances upon the palm of one hand. ]
B. [ once the settling is complete, it would seem lan wangji is nowhere to be found.
that is, unless one neglects to follow the low and somber chords of a guqin to the upper reaches. here, lan wangji seems to have made himself comfortable, wangji stationed upon his folded legs. he faces toward the crooked skyline of the city, his posture and his clothing both pristine no matter how he sits upon the rooftop's slating. he does not turn his head immediately when anyone at all comes to join him, but his eyes lift as his fingers drag a longer reverberation from the strings.
he does not speak, but his lips ( for a briefer moment ) part before he decides the better of it and tilts instead his head in the most subtle of degrees. it is an offer, it seems, if they wish to sit or if they wish for him to cease playing for the moment. ]
6th of december
the feast of sinterklaas
And look, it worked!
Once the Feast of Sinterklaas hits, Riku works overnight to get the fake Christmas tree up, as well as the decorations around the house. While it's raining outside, it casts a shadow on the apartment. When everyone gets up, they'll find a living space filled with multi-colored lights.
Riku will be sleeping on the floor, not having wanted to wake his roommates. He has a pillow under his head, and he's splayed with his limbs stretched out a few different ways.
There aren't any presents to go under the artificial tree, but ...
Well.
Riku figured this all spoke for itself.]
