Either way, he can be found having a drink that he randomly pointed at on the menu because he wasn't about to go through the trouble of figuring out these strange and foreign drinks, or their ridiculous names. It's bad enough that he can't read but he's unfamiliarity with literally everything is really annoying. Luckily he ended up with something decent.
He spends most of his time at the corner of the bar where he (thinks) he'll be least likely to be bothered, drinking with a sour expression on his face because that's just how he looks. That doesn't mean he isn't receptive to conversation, it's just instinctive for him to go sit in a dark corner and brood, is all.]

Normally she'd just keep watching him but she's curious and comfortable, which means that she approaches his dark little corner after a moment. ]
What kind of alcohol do you like? [ She asks, signing with her hands. ] Other than strong. [ Seems to be what most people like about it, honestly. ]

I prefer wine.
[The drink he has is clearly not wine. It's..too bright. Pink, really. And sweet. But he's not being overly picky right now, and didn't want to waste too much time trying to get it right. He just wanted a drink.]

[ It's her job, as a bartender (as far as she understands it) to get to know people. Learn to anticipate what they might want to drink and suggest things that widen their horizons. The pinkish sweetness in front of the man in the dark corner is not that, not by a long shot.
So. She takes a moment to run through descriptions she'd been given of their wine and comes back with a nice robust red wine bottle to his table, setting it down with a simple wineglass next to it. ]
You might like this better.

When she returns with the bottle and glass it takes him a moment to register the fact that he's being served. It's still not something he's used to, especially as this girl seemed to have gone out of her way. At least, by the standards of places he's drunken in before. And just his life in general. Normally he was serving the drinks, if anything.]
Ah...thank you. [There's the slightest bit of hesitation, just paranoid habit, before he takes the bottle and pours some in his glass to try. He's careful in the way he lifts the glass and swirls his drink, experienced and taking joy in the process despite also clearly just...wanting to drink.
When he finally takes a sip his features light up. Not by a lot, but it's enough of a departure from his glowering face that it's noticeable.]
It is...very good. [His tone is appreciative.] You have my thanks.
[With less hesitance this time.]

[ Cass practically beams from his thanks. She took a risk, actually getting him something so different from what he ordered but the risk appears to have paid off in spades. ]
The place it's from is called Codorniu. I guess it's a very old winery. This one is on the house, though.

The bartender passes him his soda and he raises his glass politely, eyeing the free seat. ]
Mind if I claim this for awhile?

He offers a single nod of his head.]
You needn't ask.
[He may look like he's just about out of patience with existing but he's not about to play God with the seating.]

What're you having, and does it make this place any better?
