[ jyn doesn't raise her glass to drink, but she does raise her as if to toast illya and daisy both. drink, you dickheads. ]

[ illya rolls his eyes at that one but drinks nonetheless. hey, they were going to go to the moon.

someday. but not to live there. who'd want to live on the moon anyway? ]

I think some billionaire is planning an expedition to Mars.

[ so she doesn't drink. try and make her, jyn. ]

And has he gone to Mars? Have people on your planet gone to Mars?

[ planning is not doing! if she made jyn and cassian drink for being born into a society with hyperspace travel then jyn can make daisy drink for the opposite. ]

[ daisy just shrugs. ]

I don't know. I spent the last few months before I got here in a digital alternative dimension run by a robot with a Pinocchio complex. I didn't get a chance to catch up on space news before I got kidnapped.

So drink.

[ her eyebrows arch but daisy isn't going to sway her with that snippet of a story and making jyn google another reference (pinocchio) that she doesn't understand. ]

[ fine! she drinks! even if she rolls her eyes at jyn the whole time. ]

It's not my turn. [ but no one else has gone. ] But I've never shared a bed with someone I'm not having sex with.

[ so there, miss erso ]

[ jyn drinks, because it's true, but she isn't going to let this slide either. ]

We took a nap together last week. And we fell asleep in your bed the first time we found this apartment.

[ so daisy has shared a bed with jyn. twice. and they did not have sex. ]

[ illya does not drink because bed sharing pfft. he'd barely done that at all with anyone here and when he had, it had been one of the few times he'd been with someone.

so, he does not drink but he does hide a snicker behind his bottle while he watches the interplay between daisy and jyn. they are both going to be intoxicated by the night's end. ]

[ so, something occurs to him with daisy's clear attack on jyn. had it not been for jyn, he wouldn't be taking a drink right now. he... hasn't shared a bed with anyone he hasn't slept with, not regularly like daisy is implying. maybe when he was a child, but that's not the point of this. ]

[ it seemed more logical at the time to just share a bed with jyn than sleep in the closet. but. bUT!! ]

I find it hard to believe neither of you have ever shared a bed with someone without sex.

[ you do not escape this either illya. ]

Even infants often cosleep from time to time.

I'm only drinking because Jyn's being pedantic. Naps don't count.

[ her beer is empty, though, which means she has to steal illya's to manage the task. hmph. now she needs another drink, and they're out of beer. time for harder stuff. pushing herself up on slightly wobbly feet to stumble into the kitchen, she mutters: ]

And you don't cosleep with nuns in orphanages, okay.

[ in the blur of her impending slide from happy-go-lucky buzz to drunkenness (after this, her... third beer of the night, if she's remembering correctly), daisy is a little more forthcoming with her emotions. ]

My parents were not big on allowing me to sleep with them so I did not.

[ the less said about them, the better. even the thought is enough to make his should stiffen the tiniest bit. with his bottle gone, he folds his hands into his lap and shakes his head. oftentimes his father was gone, busy working and then lost to the gulag and his mother was...working in her own way. ]

Otherwise, I had few friends and none that I wanted to share a bed with. I did not see the point. Any relationship I had was...short.

[ basically, he wasn't a virgin when he got here but he might as well have been. ]

I am not drinking.

[ fight him and ignore his sad life. ]

[ jyn drinks again because she forgot she already drank. ]

I've never... This game is difficul-- Oh! I've never paid for a drink in my entire life.

[ and she shan't start here. ]

[ daisy flops her ass back onto the couch, this time armed with a stiff mixed drink of questionable quality. it's probably 85% pure liquor and 10% ice, but she doesn't care. it does spill, but it only spills on her hand, which means she can just lick it off. that doesn't count towards taking a drink, though. ]

I bought the goddamn beer.

[ hmph. ]

If the bed is big enough you can fit more than one child in it. [ what else are the six year olds in rebel cells supposed to do?? ]

[ he slept with this parents sometimes before they died, mostly on the very cold nights. body heat under all those blankets with a blizzard outside?? fest tradition. ]

[ but also how dare you jyn. he takes a drink, having paid for many a drink in the past, usually not even his own. alcohol is one of the easiest ways to get people talking. ]

[ evidence: the barbie dream house right now. not that he is even approaching more than lightly buzzed yet. he still feels very aware of himself! ]

That is impressive, Jyn. [ he can admit that as he...all right, he's going to have to take a drink of daisy's questionable glass of whatever she put in there since she'd taken his beer and as soon as he does, he wishes he hadn't. wow. ]

I have never...

[ he pauses to think for a moment. or maybe he's pausing to try and let his stomach settle after he basically took a drink of something that's tastes like fire and acid and nightmares. god. ]

I have never had to say goodbye to someone.

[ his father had been taken without warning. his mother just wasn't there. daisy had gone as a surprise. and no one else had mattered. when people left him, they just left.

not an outstanding thing to realize. ]

[ and there goes the rest of jyn's beer in one go. is she drinking for every one she has said goodbye to or just to escape any of those memories? maybe both, but she had enough beer left to make it fairly obvious she was chugging the last of it. ]

I need another.

[ it's her turn to stand and find something else to drink, rifling around in the kitchen for something alcoholic. ]

[ daisy goes to reach for the glass — because her life has been a pit of sadness and loss ever since day one of her memory — but stops suddenly, hand frozen mid-reach.

on second thought, she's never had the chance to say goodbye to anyone. is that worse, or better? ]

[ he's said goodbye to a lot of people, sometimes he didn't even know it would be the final farewell. he's not sure if that made it better or worse than the ones he knew he'd never see again. ]

[ he's probably only about halfway through his own bottle, swirling it around. they'd said goodbye to his father when he left for the protests, but they didn't think he'd die. his mother was taken from him quite suddenly, no goodbyes there either. ]

[ he doesn't know whether or not to drink, so he takes half a sip for a middle ground. ]

I have never gotten arrested.

[ kidnappings and undercover missions don't count. ]

[ jyn barks a laugh from the kitchen, filling her drink again just to drink from it, maybe using the change of subject to linger with her drink away from the bulk of prying eyes. her laughably long list of crimes took draven a full two minutes to list. ]

Only 'cause you're boring!

[ technically, it was the framework, and not the "real world" — but the framework had felt just as real as anything else, and the prison cell she'd been locked in had certainly been shitty enough.

so daisy grabs her glass back from illya and drinks, coughing a bit as the burn hits her throat. she really should have considered a mixer. ]

I've never ... [ excuse her for choking ] Jesus. I've never had a real home.

[ wait. ]

Before here, I mean.

[ he does not drink for cassian's choice because he has never been arrested but he...does drink for daisy's. he'd had a home for at least a little while. his parents had given him a good albeit strict home so he reaches for daisy's drink and then...gives it back to her.

he's just going to get up and go get something of his own. his drink is milder though still strong and he takes a sip of that before he settles back on the couch. ]

I haven't for awhile but I did once. Before this place, at least.
